This book, a collection of poetic works, is written by the author about life, death, and the points in between, dealing with the encounters and experiences he’s had in his life. "The author proves equally adept at punk-inflected sci-fi with a tinge of terror ("Thief of Dreams"), neat erotic horror-thriller ("Jack-a-Roe"), High Fantasy ("One Hundred and Twenty Two Petals"), and even humorous graphic novel super-hero parody ("Bridge Over Shifters Chasm"), each with a unique perspective on gender and the nature of intimacy. Personally, at first I had a problem reading it because the style is hard to read; I would read something, and then realize I had absolutely no idea what just happened because something is all of a sudden happening but there is only vague transition into the new idea or situation. I learnt so much from his thorough research, detailed explanations and portrayal of how it effected all generations of one family.

I can see my family history being replayed in this story. I enjoyed Flora Segunda's world a great deal - very very inventive - but the plot arc suffered from inaction and lack of focus for most of the first half. While reading "Coach" in December 2012, I took a look at amazon. I will recommend it to anyone. A sorry fate for a community with such a rich literary background.
