They manged to condense the book by removing all the original formatting and illustrations that helped to make the stories. I would buy whole birthday cakes and packs of cupcakes and eat them by myself. The title of this book is very appropriate in that you will likely find yourself falling asleep while reading. They are angered to find that one night while they are gone the younger brother gives shelter to a stranger. Olsen's alternation of chapters between the killer and the killer-to-be has some reminisces of 'flash-backs' but is a bit clumsy, although the use of many quotations and a sense of being written in the first person provides a chilling recital of the angry child who is transformed into a depraved narcissistic serial killer totally lacking remorse, but mocks authority and moral principles. I wish more children's books were like this one. In the end, the principal of instruction decided to offer the class to a group of 22 students who were African American, Hispanic, and females.
