And though there is the risk that some of the threads created therein will not be fully realized there is a gestalt of a main story that takes us from a time before Joe's birth to the excitement of the ending in his time. There were admirable things about Puritan New England. I hated that that never got resovled but I'm glad he has Eli now. But this book is its own category, or perhaps it defies category. I certainly would give this author another try. Christina Ross does not disappoint in this series.
